OLD BUSINESS

A.      New Storage Facility

The Niner’s storage will be dispursed among the members of the decorating committee for storage for this year.  A list will be kept so everyone will know where items can be located.

Mary Wood suggested calling Robson offices here to see if we could store things here in model home garages.  Lynn Hull and last year’s decorating committee can help decide what to throw out and what to keep of the current items stored.

B.      Donation of Clubs

Kathy Linder has golf bags and 31 bundled golf clubs to donate to the Southern Arizona Youth Golf Association.  This weekend Holly Riviere will donate the items currently held.  Karyle Steele will coordinate another time so that members of Niners can also donate clubs to the youth.  A day will be picked later for the donations to be dropped off at the parking lot in front of the Mt. View Clubhouse at the Palo Verde end.  This will be publicized ahead of time.  At the beginning of April, publicity will begin by an announcement in Two News and other publications.

C.     Mandatory Pick Up

A discussion was held as to whether the Niners want to set a mandatory pick up policy for MPLN league golf.  Many felt the overall time of 9 hole play has been better on league days. It was also noted that many golfers do not realize that they can pick up @ 10.  The consensus of the group discussion was that at this time the idea a mandatory pick up policy for our golfers will be dropped, and instead, we will educate the group so that their options are clear on when to pick up whether it be in a team game, and individual game, or a scramble.

D.     Maximum Handicap

A discussion was held to determine if a maximum course handicap should be set as a policy.   Karyle Steele, one of our Handicap chairs, clarified information about the handicap index which indicates a player’s ability to play 9 holes – playing to that index at least 25% of the time.  Pat Mersy, Weekly Tournament Chair, explained how our handicap computer program works.  Discussion followed.  Pat Mersy moved that 27 be the maximum number of pops  for Niner league play. Karen Koch seconded the motion. More discussion followed.  Pat called the question and a vote was taken.  The voted passed. Pat Mersy moved we reevaluate this position in November.  Karen Koch seconded the motion.  The vote passed.  Local Rules will apply and it was determined that this is not a policy at this time.  Holly Riviere will place the new number of pops  for league play in the Weekly News.  It will also be announced at the next Business Luncheon. In addition it was suggested that a rules seminar be set up with Mike Jahaske and Phil Asbury, perhaps on the first Tuesday of the month.

NEW BUSINESS

A.      Fund Raising Suggestions

1.     50/50 Raffle – being done now

2.     Dinner with Phil (Asbury, our pro)

4.     Ladies’ Choice:  add $20 to the ticket of this popular event

5.     Raise dues (No was the consensus here.)

6.     Add $3 to $5 for each event held

8.     Use a “handle,” a catchy phrase, to advertise the importance and the need of our fund raising activities.

The meeting adjourned at 5:05 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
