Robson Cup Participants, Increased Number of Players The Robson Cup will be held at Oakwood Country Club, Sun Lakes, on February 6. The deadline for signup is December 12. We have been notified that 1 person will be added to each flight for each course. This will increase our field to 32. NEW BUSINESS Food Service Rebate The 5% rebate will be applied to our Holly Jolly event. State Medallion Tournament AGWA forms have been sent to Vicki Graham. The cost is $60 per participant. MPLN paid the fees and paid an overnight stay for our attendees last year. We will do so again, depending on our budget constraints. This tournament will take place the second Monday in December, 2008, at Pebble Creek. Our entrants are Karen Koch, low net, and Pilar Borm, low gross. President s Cup The President s Cup dates have been changed from November 3 and 4, 2008, to Monday and Tuesday, November 17 and 18, 2008. The cost of the tournament is $12. Regular green fees apply. Deadline for the President s Cup alone is November 13. The cost for the MPLN Business Luncheon on November 18 is $14. A check for $26 for those participating in both can be put in the red box by the deadline of November 11, Thursday. Any Niner who plays on Tuesday, November 18, who is not playing in the tournament can follow the field. Email Holly Rivere to be included in regular Tuesday play. For lunch only on November 18, have checks in the red box by November 11. Residents of Saddlebrooke Ranch and MPLN A discussion was held concerning the issue of lady residents of Saddlebrooke Ranch participating in MPLN until they have their own league. Present were: Holly Rivere, Rita Smith, Karyle Steele, Pat Steffens, Candy Wallace, Jan Wayne, Deanna Sides, Pat Mersy, and Marsha Wilson. Rita Smith moved the Minutes for the September 23 Board Meeting be approved. Pat Mersy seconded the motion. The minutes were unanimously approved. In the absence of the treasurer, there was no treasurer s report. OLD BUSINESS Congratulations on the Get Gear Event Congratulations were extended to Karyle Steele and the entire committee for a very successful event. Several truckloads of gear (clubs, bags and other golf equipment) were donated October 25, 2008, to the Southern Arizona Junior Golf Association. The drive-through arrangement made it very easy for donors to drop off donated items. If more clubs need to be donated at this time, people will be asked to contact the SAJGA directly. If MPLN decides to repeat this event next year, Saturday, October 24, 2009, has been tentatively reserved with Marsha South, Administrative Assistant HOA 2. Sign Up To Bring Something to the Transition Meeting December 1 A sign up sheet was passed among the board members present. Each member will bring a Brunch dish to the transition meeting of old and new board members. This will be held on Monday, December 1 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Saddlebrooke Community Room. Membership Change The new Membership position will involve a MPLN Bylaws change. Last month, the Board moved to accept the proposed Bylaws changes as written. These changes will be posted on the web and in the Golf Room. A vote will take place at our Holly Jolly Tournament luncheon on December 2. This vote will be in effect after a vote by e course until they have their own association.) That means that all three courses will be in our Chelsea system. In order for Saddlebrooke Ranch lady golfers to be included in our group, an amendment or extra article would need to be added to our bylaws. It was agreed that Holly Rivere and Rita Smith would draft such an article and email it to board members for input to iron out the proper wording. This then will be posted for 30 days. A vote will take place at our Holly Jolly Tournament luncheon on December 2. The next MPLN Board Meeting date has been changed to Tuesday November 18 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. This meeting may even be held right after the Business luncheon on that day.
