MPLN Minutes for February 19, 2008, Business Luncheon

Holly Riviere called the meeting to order at 12:40 in the Palo Verde Dining Room.

Business Items:

A.     Budget.  Holly noted that we have a tight budget this year. Therefore, it is important that the expense for each tournament during the year should be covered by the charges.

B.      Rally for the Cure.  This will be our next tournament with MPWGA.

C.     Chairman Needed.  Holly reported that we still need a chair person for the YaYa Sisterhood event with the Saddlebrooke Niners.

Partners for Par Certificates Presented:

Carol Larson and Susan Gustafson presented Partners for Par certificates to all new niners who completed the program.  This is the first time Partners for Par candidates were required to play 2 rounds of holes on league day with their niner partner to complete the program and earn a certificate of recognition.

Other Awards Presented:

Karlye Steele and Candy Wallace presented other awards to golfers who received lapel pins for birdies and breaking 50, Chip Ahoy cookies for Chip-ins, and a trio of logo golf balls signed by Pro Mike Jahaske for breaking 45.

Pace of Play Addressed:

Holly and the 9ers present discussed the pace of play issue.  Two additional items emphasized other than what was in the February 15 reminder sent to all 9ers from Holly were 1.)  Players should be aware of golf course management skills and 2.)  Each golf team should write down their start and end time on the scorecard.

Announcements:

A.    All 9ers are to notify Rita Smith to order nametags and 9er shirts.

B.     Congratulations to Robson participants.

C.    Susan Gustafson requested 9er volunteers for help with Rally for the Cure Registration.

D. Mike Jahaske announced that he is willing to hold a specialty clinic for just niners.  Holly will send an email to survey the membership on the clinic focus.

Discussion of General Rules Changes:

Mike Jahaske explained the new general rules changes from the 2008-2009 Rules of Golf  handbook.  He also presented the changes in the local rules.

A 50/50 Raffle closed the meeting.  Nancy Claffey and Ginny Ottinger were the winners.

Respectfully submitted,
