MPLN GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Tuesday September 25, 2007

The meeting opened by President, Pam Brunelle welcoming the MP Lady Niners, and their guests to the luncheon.  She also introduced Pros, Mike Jahaske and Phil Asbury, and Don and Ellen Parkhurst, representatives of the Southern Arizona Jr. Golf Program.

Entertainment was presented by Sue Robisch and the Sonoran Singers, with a medley of six familiar songs.

After the presentation, Pam honored our own Mary Canfield, celebrating her 89th birthday with the Sonoran Singers and all present together singing "Happy Birthday".  Mary was presented with a plaque beautifully designed by our own Mary Gelinas, and tote bag with accessories from the Niners.  We shared a special birthday cake in Mary’s honor.

Potential new members were introduced by their luncheon hostess and encouraged to ask questions and fill out an application for membership.

Pam gave out a special thank you to Carol Stellhorn who designed and made the centerpieces for the tables and everyone who helped put the luncheon together and the wait staff.  She thanked everyone for the generous donations of food and personal items for the Catalina Community Center.

A presentation was made to Don Parkhurst representing the Jr. Golf Program with a check for $600.00 from the MP Lady Niners.  The family of Sue Ball donated 3 golf bags, and a set of golf clubs to the Niners who in turn, with Board approval, donated to the program.

Don Parkhurst talked about the Jr. Golf Program, what it does, who is involved, and what it means to these kids.  He thanked us all for the generous donations.

Mike Jahaske brought us up to date as to when the courses are opening after over seeding. He also reminded everyone that he and Phil will be doing the golf clinics again this winter, on Thursdays at 2:00.  Take advantage of it.  Sign up sheets are in the pro shop.

Pam announced to the general membership that the MPLN Board had voted unanimously to accept the newly created policy regarding the use of MPLN Local Rule for Distance Measuring Devices.  The policy is available on the Niner’s website under Policies.  A copy of this policy is attached to the secretary’s minutes.

LADIES CHOICE:  Nancy Claffey and Marcia Wilson presented the forum for the tournament to be held October 30.  The theme will be Halloween, complete with costumes. It will be a shotgun start at 9:00 AM. Cost is $45.00 per couple plus greens fees, if not an annual member.  Flyers were available at the luncheon and are on line and in the Golf Assoc. Room.

Nominating Committee consisting of Kathy Lindner, Caralee Taylor and Nancy Claffey were thanked by Pam for their time and effort in putting the Slate of Officers for 2008 together.  They are as follows:
